The Agora street start from Agia Galini port in front of the Fountain landmark and extends until the center of the village. Starting from the port as you walk the stairs to the upper level you see a small lively picturesque street with various gift shops, cafes, restaurants. In Agora street you will find places as old as the street it self, since 1900's this street always accommodated trading shops, barber shops, traditional cretan cafes, restaurants and many other various businesses. It is a very important aspect in Agia Galini history as the village grew and flourished around this street, Agia Galini was an important trading port in Crete until the late 1960's and this street was the heart of it. The merchants from all over Crete who would come to buy or sell their goods spent a few days in the village and they would enjoy their time in this street, some could say that this was an early touristic experience for the village long before the modern tourism extended to Crete.
